Wow, what a week. I just returned from Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona and all I can say is it was overwhelming! Global Services has a great article on the end of the PC through the rise of the cloud with 2012 being a banner year for enterprise mobility. In the article, they state that Gartner reports, “Today, mobile devices combined with the cloud can fulfill most computing tasks, and any tradeoffs are outweighed in the minds of the user by the convenience and flexibility provided by the mobile devices.” This rise in mobility is changing the way we work both personally, but more importantly in the enterprise. See the whole article here. This is a great contrast to another article written by Richard Keggans back in August of last year “Death of the PC” Greatly Exaggerated where he believes it to just be an evolution. Interesting, however, that he makes no mention of the cloud. Is the cloud the game changer? Love to hear your thoughts.
