Delivering AI to the Cloud, Edge and Endpoint Devices

Artificial intelligence (AI) is permeating every aspect of our personal and professional lives, but many companies have yet to grasp the power and revolutionary capabilities it brings. While public perceptions of AI can be skewed by science fiction’s (almost entirely theoretical) depiction of hyper-intelligent humanoid robots, the enterprise view can also be out of step with reality. Many still view AI as completely focused on high-performance or cloud-based computing models. In actuality, advances in hardware, software, and algorithm optimization mean that AI opportunities are now incredibly broad, and often far more down to earth. (more…)

By 2019, 60% of CIOs will complete infrastructure and application re-platforming using cloud, mobile, and DevOps, clearing the deck for accelerated enterprise digital transformatiopredictions

As digitally-fueled disruptors continue to roil and reshape businesses and industries, the clear mandate for every enterprise is to reimagine and reconstruct itself to compete in the increasingly digital economy that’s platform powered and ecosystem enabled. To help CIOs and senior IT executives through this period of multiplied innovation, International Data Corporation (IDC) today published IDC FutureScape: Worldwide CIO Agenda 2018 Predictions (Doc #US41789117). These predictions lay out IDC’s vision for the ten most important shifts that will happen in IT organizations over the next 36 months and will guide senior IT executives in the formation of their three-year strategic IT plan.

Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) has become a mainstay of mobile deployments today and is recognized as a must for any enterpricyberse company. While EMM handles the basics of securing mobile devices and protecting corporate data and assets, it falls short in several areas, included Man-in-the-Middle attacks, Malware, phishing attacks and modified devices (jailbreaking, etc.). For this reason, a new security add-on has taken shape in the industry: Mobile Threat Management (MTM) software. This cutting-edge technology in the mobile space is just now coming into its own and being recognized as a key need by enterprise executives, augmenting EMM to fully secure devices.

IDC sees the mobile threat management market gaining momentum as more enterprises decide that EMM/MDM and native sandboxing and segmentation on mobile operating systems (OSs) are not enough to meet overall mobile threat management needs. According to IDC’s 2017 U.S. Enterprise Mobility Decision Maker Survey, half of U.S. enterprises and SMBs have deployed some form of mobile device security solution — mobile antimalware, mobile threat management, or mobile app scanning. An additional one-third of U.S. businesses not using MTM today plan to deploy this technology in the future.

fira-bcnAs a California native who grew up near the beach I like to say that I run on salt water and sun. So when December hits, I can’t think of a better place to be than the wonderful city of Barcelona with the sea breeze coming off the Mediterranean keeping me going. That’s why I’m so happy that we are returning to Barcelona for HP Discover again this year, and it’s looking to be bigger and better than ever. I’ve been working with the Mobility team on a lot of the planning and there is just some great stuff going on in this space. Be sure to check out all my sessions and everything HP has to offer in the mobile space! I’ve jotted down some of my thoughts as we get ready to head for the Med once again and continue the Enterprise Mobility journey.

California’s Cochran v. Schwan court case casts a pall over BYOD plans, but clear corporate policies can eliminate liability concerns. California, the land of sun and surf, has just dealt what some are calling a death knell to BYOD plans by way of a legal ruling set down Aug. 12 by the Court of Appeals.

SAMR12Flying to New York the other day to talk about mobility. Day started out with an upgrade to the new PS service on United that gives you the international 1st class experience domestically. That includes a plug for your iPhone, a personal screen with hundreds of channels, your own personal reading light and basically a pod office in the sky with wifi and outlets. In today’s world, we truly can be mobile anywhere, and our expectations are that we will have all the amenities needed for that mobile workplace whenever and wherever we are. This is proven by the moniker of the “Starbucks Experience” we hear about so often in the enterprise now. Our expectations in the 21st century or large and the world is changing to meet them.

I learned a lot of things at Mobile World Congress this year from the various vendors and exhibits. The quality of the information I gathered was top notch, but the most interesting discussions came outside the venue. Whether we were on a break or out to dinner, we were discussing the future of mobile.

JennettMWCWow, what a week. I just returned from Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona and all I can say is it was overwhelming! The changes that are coming over the course of the next year are really going to redefine how we look at mobility and devices overall. It was a week filled with great information, great people and great products starting with a half-day theater session with HP.
